You can't, that's part of the Amazon security, they don't want you making copies. And it's illegal to make unauthorized copies of a book with copyrights. If you want to search around on the Kindle itself, connect your Kindle to a PC and it should appear as a drive. Those are your books. Except each book does not have the real title in the filename. Each filename is a bunch of garbled letters and numbers.

What also helped: accidentally finding my kindle serial number by double clicking on Settings - that was unknown by Amazon support, but apparently exists for older kindles.

This issue is caused by the browser setting. I got a "success" message but I cannot find the file. A search for all azw and azw3 files on my computer did not find the file I "thought" had downloaded. I use Firefox and the usual message that a file had been downloaded never appeared. Unfortunately this is happening with Safari as well. Very frustrating. Any suggestions for Mac users with Safari?
